Day 60 - Dormition of the Mother of God, AKA Beach Day - Athens, Greece

Big holiday in Greece! Dormition of the Mother of God. Mary went to sleep. And seemingly most of Greece takes August off.
We decided to finally have a zero-rush beach day and bike to the beach.
It was interesting that everyone had been talking about how busy and crazy and traffic Athens is, and then it's like a ghost town to us. No stores are open, barely any traffic on the streets. It's like Christmas!
We biking to the sea! There's a great cycle track that runs by a train.
Once it ends, though we're on a highway.
The sea is just as we remember it. We haven't seen it since Montenegro on Day 40!

A lady was selling donuts and sesame seed rings!

Donut was freshly shaken with sugar.
Gabs takes in the sea one last time. We gave him some alone time.
After a swim and a long lounge, we're back.
We wandered back through Athens.
We had to cross this highway with a sketchy underpass.
Nighttime walk! There's a walking street with some ruins and the subway and the acropolis in the distance.

We walked by another bike shop I tried to find yesterday and tantalizingly saw a locked up bike box.

We got some cocktails at a too trendy place named "BOO!"
BOO! had an aesthetic like Star Wars crossed with 50s orientalist Disney.
