Day 50 - We have bike legs, not hike legs - Valbonë, Albania to Theth, Albania
August 5, 2026 - biked 0 km (0 mi) - biked 1744 km (1083 mi) total
Can biking make your hiking muscles weaker? Well yes, because you aren’t hiking, especially on the downhill.
Wish I knew this before.

Not his house but he can pose.

Albanian village breakfast included

Coffee not coffee

We can only wake up early to see a mountain sunrise.

So many stray dogs. Don’t come to Albania if you love dogs…or do and bring one back.

For Ali since she did this hike right before us.

Sign displays distances in hours not km or miles.

Getting steeper but I love the uphill.

Cafe stop along the way.

Gabs loves squeezes

Cafe about an 1.5 hours in.

Spring water keeps the beer ice cold.

Wild mountain strawberries found while venturing off to pee. Different hands were used.

Wild horses with cow bells attached to them.

Might be slightly out of breath here

Stunning

We made it to the top and the first thing we do is break out our picnic lunch from our homestay.

Bread with cheese, cucumber and the best tomato.

Gabs blends right in

We hiked from that valley

Albanian flag at the pass

If you hike a little further you can go to the very very top

Wtf was he doing?

Now my turn to be creepy

True gazer

Albanians love their flag.

Another cafe to rest at. The downhill is much worse than the uphill.

We could’ve taken a horse.

These are wild horses that we hiked off the trail to avoid. We could’ve tamed a wild horse.

Pie pizza pie

We ordered a watermelon plate instead.

The last cookie!! (Done in the voice of the dodos in the movie children’s classic movie Ice Age.)

Almost to Theth!

There is crystal clear water in this photo.

Food time with a cat guest.

Our place for the night—super cute but what you don’t know is that none of the drains have traps.

Doesn’t hurt the view and nothing an open door can’t fix.
